Born in Moiodella Civitella, in the provence of Salerno (Italy) in 1934, Romano Zanotti began his artistic career in 1954. For more than 15 years he was permanently exhibited in the Gallery Denise Rene, as one of the leaders of the Kinetic movement with Vasarely, Agam and Soto.

Zanotti belongs to this spiritual family directed towards synthesis. Clarity of style, severity of construction, obsession with each gesture, and chromatic variations are combined with the grace of the composition.

Zanotti is influenced by the theme of veritable reality in painting and sculpture. He paints the canvas with infinite patience and, to him, painting is the space for illusion. He aims to reach the ‘pure form’, which hides behind the accidental appearance and the ephemeral perception of objects.

He also strives to depict the ‘true nature’ of things. It is not enough for him to construct an ideal form; it is essential to acknowledge its appearance.

Né en 1934 à Moidella Civitella, dans la province de Salerne, en Italie, Romano Zanotti commence sa carrière artistique en 1954. Pendant plus de 15 ans il est un artiste permanent de la galerie Denise René en tant que leader du mouvement Kinetic avec Vasarely, Agam et Soto.

Zanotti appartient à cette famille spirituelle dirigée vers la synthèse. La clarté du style, la sévérité de la construction, l'obsession de chaque geste, les variations chromatiques sont combinées avec la grâce appartenant à la représentation structurelle.

Zanotti est influencé par la véritable réalité de la peinture et de la sculpture. Il peint la toile avec une patience infinie. La peinture est pour Zanotti un espace de l'illusion. Il recherche la forme pure, qui se cache derrière l'apparence accidentelle et les objets perçus de manière éphémère. Son but est de décrire la 'vraie nature', pour lui ce n'est simplement pas assez de construire la forme idéale, il est aussi essentiel de reconnaitre son apparence.
